We are now offering carriage driving at Arundel Park RDA. Carriage driving is open to anyone but especially to those who can no longer ride or prefer a different type of equestrian challenge.
Driving offers a different experience for people with a disability, with the opportunity to try cone driving, driven dressage or simply enjoy the bush on a trail drive. Our qualified coach is helped by a passionate team of carriage driving enthusiasts who help our drivers get the most from their experience.
Our carriages include a special wheelchair adapted vehicle which can offer freedom and independence to our drivers and a 4 wheel Fenix flyer imported from the UK for our ambulant drivers. Our ponies include Pizzazz, a Welsh pony and Diamond a Connemara gelding. They have been giving our participants so much pleasure as they learn to groom, harness and drive them. A number of our Participants have been competing at shows with the ponies including the Queensland State Driving Championships. Driving offers the opportunity for many to develop physical skills and boosts confidence and self-esteem. It helps people that would otherwise be unable to ride a horse, enjoy being involved in equestrian sports and experience the benefits.
