APRDA is extremely grateful to Dr Narelle Stubbs for the kind donation of several Equicore concepts Equibandâ kits. The Equibandsâ are latex free rubber bands specifically designed for horses and are fitted around the abdomen and hindquarters and connect to clips on a special saddle pad. The system has been co created by Narelle Stubbs in the US and its benefits of strengthening core muscles and improving stability of the spine is backed up by various independent peer-reviewed clinical research projects.
Fletch with the
Equibandâ system
in use at APRDA
Narelle came out to Arundel Park and helped explain the concept, how to wake up the horse’s core muscles using abdominal lifts and then key aspects of fitting the Equibandsâ.
Our herd at APRDA comprises many older individuals, not always perfect confirmation and yet they do an amazing job of supporting riders with disabilities. We have been looking for ways to help our horses develop more stable, rounder backs and Narelle and the Equibandâ system were suggested to us.
Narelle has worked in Australia, US and Europe in Animal Physiotherapy, lectures and teaches internationally at Veterinary and Physiotherapy conferences and has been the Official Australian Equestrian team Physiotherapist for many disciplines at the World Equestrian Games and Olympics.
