Ready Set Trot

Ready Set Trot is a national initiative which aims to get more kids active and having fun with horses. It’s designed to give young people more opportunity to have fun with horses whether it’s at school or at a riding club. Through fun games and activities young people are given the chance to learn basic horse knowledge, skills and safety. Lessons include games and mounted activities which promote physical activity and basic horse education, all aimed at giving young people a taste of the horse world. Ready Set Trot aims to make horse sports more accessible to young people. Equestrian Australia and Pony Club Australia with funding from the Australian Sports Commission are working to increase participation rates in equestrian sport.

This is an integrated program for all participants and has been designed for beginners of a primary school age to be introduced to horsemanship and riding skills. There are four levels in which students work through to achieve specific outcomes before progressing to the next stage. The four key learning areas of each ribbon level are: General Knowledge, Horse Welfare, Riding Skills, and Practical Tasks. We also have provided helmets and boots for riders to use.
